Sub-Tasks moving or not moving during Splitting of a Story

What criteria does Jira use to decide if a Sub-Task should move from the original Story to the newly created Story when Splitting a Story? 

In one of my Boards, I Split a Story (in Accepted State) that had all of its Sub-Tasks Accepted (Status = Accepted), except 1 Sub-Task that was in Status = Open. The remaining Open Sub-Task moved to the new Story. In another of my Boards, I did the same thing (same setup) and none of the Sub-Tasks moved to the new Story.

Please leave the proselytizing of the correct way to Scrum out of this. I just want to know how the tool works.

Nevermind. We have automation running based on Team ID and I think that the Teams that Sub-Tasks aren't moving for are probably not in that list.
