Hi there! I'm very new to this, but I'm trying to do something that I feel should be simple.

I'm using Jira cloud. I created a new Software project. I'm looking at the Kanban board. If I try to create a new issue, there are three issue types available: Story, Bug, and Epic. There is also a line underneath that that says:

"Some issue types are unavailable due to incompatible field configuration and/or workflow associations."

I want to create a sub-task, and that's not an option listed.

I clicked on the gear, went to issues, selected subtasks, and it says this:

"Sub-Tasks are currently turned ON"

I haven't done any customization or changes, this is straight out of the box. It says subtasks are on, but they're not selectable. Does anyone know why? Thanks!

Hello,

Welcome to Atlassian community!

Sub-task is a different kind of issue type that you can use to split up larger pieces of work into tasks that can be assigned and tracked separately by your teams.

That been said, sub-tasks can only be created under a standard issue type (Task, Story, bug, etc) by clicking on the three dots icon (...) > Create sub-tasks in the issue detail view:

For more information, refer to the documentation below:
