Hello @Jira user

Your post tags indicate you are using a Standard subscription for Jira. Is that correct?

If so the work type hierarchy is

Level 1: Epic
|-- Level 0: standard issue types (i.e. Task, Bug, Story, Feature)
|-- Level -1: sub-tasks

A given item's parent can be only from the work item types in the level directly above it.

With a Standard subscription you can't change that hierarchy. You won't be able to have both an Epic and a Feature that can be parents to a Story because Feature would be at the same level as Story.

With a Standard subscription your options are:

1. Change the name of the Epic work item to Feature. Then Feature could be a parent to Story, but you would no longer have a work type named "Epic".
2. Use generic work item linking to artificially establish a relationship between a Feature and a Story, with those items being at the same level. Jira would not see that as a parent/child relationship.

Thanks @Trudy P Claspill you mean with standard plan we can see only 2 levels, epic and task, no story? There are 3 though 1, 0 and -1 as levels

Hello @Jira user

Have you checked your work type scheme if you are using company-managed Jira space?

Make sure that Story work type is there. If it isn't, you would need to add it to your scheme. Before you do that, check if your work type scheme is being shared with any other spaces.

It has to do with the hierarchy level, I added Feature, can I add another level because so far there is only 1 0 and -1?

Hello @Nikola Perisic

Thank you for your feedback.

I have deleted Story as it is same level as Feature, so Story disappeared froö the list and 'Task' is not showing at all on the list, is it normal?feature.PNG

@Jira user

As @Trudy P Claspill already mentioned, this is regarding the hierarchy levels.
