HELP!  I believe I've somehow created a mess.  I have somehow wiped out all the story points from all stories past and future.  I don't believe I deleted the Story Points custom field.  But....

When I try to view sprint reports I get this error "Could not find suitable statistics field with ID 'customfield_10116"

We use the Scheduler to create recurring stories, and I had all those jobs fail this morning with an error: "Field 'customfield_10116' cannot be set. It is not on the appropriate screen, or unknown."

And the "Story Points" field that is presently on all my stories does not appear to be adding up for the sprint totals at the top of the sprint in the backlog in the grey, blue, and green progress indicators.

I get an error on the Board Configuration (that I have not changed) that says the Field 'customfield_10116 is invalid for Estimation

I also have 2 separate Story Points custom fields, yet only one being displayed on the stories.

Both Story Points fields appear to be listed on the Screen configuration and on the Issue Layout.  But I am only seeing one of them in the actual render of that screen.

Note that when I discovered I had 2 fields named the same I renamed one "Story Pointss" so I could distinguish between them while troubleshooting this.

I don't see an option to delete this.  So I'll just say that with the help of my team here, we stumbled upon the resolution.  Turns out I did manage to delete the original Story Points field.  Not sure how the other 2 got created.  But we discovered that deleted fields are not permanently deleted immediately, and we were able to restore the original Story Points field.

Hi @Brian Paison  -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

I do not believe that you can delete the posting, but you could accept your above response as the answer.

Why it's still possible to delete Story Points field? Isn't it strange behavior?
