Stories with "Ready" Status not shown in Backlog and Sprint Tabs on Board

Thorben Blauhut October 31, 2025

We have the status Ready and Todo. The Issue is that on the Board where the Active Sprint tab or the Backlog incl. existing sprints tab stories are hidden when they are is status ready. Changing them back to "To Do" or other statuses like "In Progress" make them visible again.

The Filter of the Board in settings is only on Project and Teams.

As we need the ability to recognise which stories are Ready to go to a sprint this Status would be crucial to see.

Hey @Thorben Blauhut

It is probably an issue with board configuration and the status ready is not mapped to any column. Items show up in active sprints if they are assigned to a sprint, and in backlog if they aren't. The issues which don't show on the active sprints tab are in a status that is not assigned to any column.

Are you an administrator of the respective board. If yes, go to board settings -> Layout -> columns and make sure the ready status is mapped to a column.

I hope that helps.

Hi @Thorben Blauhut ,

Are you using Jira company-managed or team-managed project space?

It's similar for both space types and here are instructions on how you can configure board: Configure a company-managed board

It might be the case that status "Ready" is simply unmapped on the board so you can navigate to the board settings > Layout > Columns and check if anything is under "Unmapped statuses"

Alternatively, you can check what the query is for the board filter. Similarly to checking unmapped statuses, under Details tab in board settings, you can check the board filter query. Potentially, it's excluding "Ready" status, so you'll have to change that.

If it's not either of those, we can troubleshoot this further.

Cheers,
Tobi
