Stories needing estimates

I would like to write a JQL query that returns a list of stories that haven't been estimated. Is it possible to query on sub tasks?

I can run this

originalEstimate is null or originalEstimate <= 0

but it doesn't "look" in subtasks....

That's not true. You should get subtasks also if you run this JQL. Are you running it in issue navigator? Or is it in rapid boards or something?
