Stories become indented and a child of some epic on Plan feature of Jira

Our team has a Jira Plan where we manage our Product Roadmap through Epics and User stories. 99% of the time it is Epics that we would want to see in the plan but sometimes we have some one-off stories as well. We don't want to assign them an epic.

we have a label called on-roadmap which when used with epics or User stories makes them appear on the Plan. But the problem is, the stories appear in a separate section below the epics and when we move them to the epic section above, they tend to become children of an epic and don't appear independent. We want that these one-off stories should appear next to the epics in the main section without getting indented. The below screengrab explains the issue.Roadmap.png

Hi @Manu Tyagi and welcome to the Community,

What you are trying to do there is not possible with Advanced Roadmaps. Issues have a parent-child hierarchy in the tool, and the lower 3 levels of this hierarchy is based on the fixed Jira hierarchy:

Epics

-> Stories (tasks, bugs and other standard issue types)

-> -> Sub-Tasks

The indenting you see is a representation of that hierarchy. As stories are child issues to epics, they will always be displayed as such.

Hope this helps!
