Apologies as I can't provide more details, as its happening to one team and they just said "eh I'll just ignore it".

But basically they try to close their sprint and they get the warning that "subtasks that don't have story points will affect the next sprint" or similar. But as far as I know you can't even add story points to subtasks because the backlog only shows stories/tasks.

From what I can tell, the hierachy looks fine too, its not like I have a subtask on the same level as a story/bug.

Anyone seen something like this before?

Hello @Calvin 

This warning appears because the "Story Points" field is likely enabled for sub-task issue types in your configuration. You can either hide the field from sub-tasks or bulk set it to 0 to suppress the warning.

  • If the team truly doesn’t want to estimate subtasks, just ignore the warning — it won’t block sprint closure.

  • Alternatively, add a dummy “0” story point value to all subtasks via bulk edit to suppress the warnin


It could also be, someone might have added Story points for Subtask in past

Wow didn't think to check for this but I bet thats it! Thanks so much! I'll confirm tomorrow but I bet this is the problem
