We have three sprint in progress and sometime we have to rank like following for production support and improvement related requests ( which are large in numbers in our case).
Sprint A - Issue a1
Sprint A - Issue a2
Sprint B - Issue b1
Sprint A - Issue a3
Sprint C - Issue c1
Sprint B - Issue b2
Each sprint is managed by different geolocated team, but we want to share absolute ranking among the issues to all teams. Is there any way to do same.
Hi Sun,
The rank value is a global object at the issue level that will measure where an issue is in the entire set of ranked issues. Sprints, Boards and projects are not directly related to the rank but rather the rank is unique per issue, and any location an issue has a ranked that is changed, that change is reflected across all boards the issue is on. The ranking of the issue will be relative to the ranking of the other issues in the sprint the issue is in or in the backlog while the issues are in the backlog. When an issue is moved into a sprint a re-rank occurs relative to the sprint, and The concept behind this is that rank is managed within a sprint itself, not across sprints, as each sprint is an independent and defined body of work.
If you have multiple boards with different sprints that have issues that overlap, you might want to consider creating a single board instead, with a single sprint to encompass the cross project work items so you can re-rank within the sprint and then use quick filters for the team specific issues.

Earl
