Sprint field locked - Need it to be Global Field

Apologies if this has been asked, but I could not find it

I need to make the Sprint field a global field so that I may see visually the sprint in JPD, but I cannot seem to figure out how to make it a global field

Thank you

Hi @Tami King

Where are you trying to see the Sprint field in in Jira Product Discovery (JPD)?

JPD spaces contain Ideas, and those spaces do not have Sprints.  There could be "delivery tickets" linked to an Idea, and those delivery tickets could be in a software project which is using a Scrum board and sprints.

Kind regards,
Bill

I would like it to appear as an optional column in the board view

We are not using JPD in the traditional "idea" setup....we are not using it to manage our sprints either.  I have created Delivery tickets and connected them, but I still want to be able to show sprints on the JPD views without having to create it manually....which is what I fear I'll have to do

We do not have the roadmap functionality because we are a small shop and do not need that level of jira

thanks!!! :)

Thanks for that information, @Tami King

There are several global fields (and some field types) which cannot be added to JPD spaces at this time, and it appears Sprint is one of them.

One possible workaround is using a custom field in JPD to "roll up" your Sprint value from the linked, delivery tickets with an automation rule.  That value could get out of sync for various reasons and thus a few rules would be needed:

Additionally, the Sprint field is a list of values (when work items carryover between Sprints).  You would need to decide which value to use: the most-recent one, the first one, etc.

You appear to be on a Standard license level and thus the amount of monthly rule usage may be manageable.

Hello @Tami King

The Sprint field is already a global field available in Jira. From what I can find it can't be added directly to JPD at this time

Are you connecting your JPD ideas to work items in Jira Software Spaces?

Can you provide a screen image from JPD and point out where you want to use/see the field?

I found this older post on synching the JSW Sprint field with a field in JPD, which may be helpful?

Here are a few screen shots
- First is from JPD where you can see I've selected "Jira fields" and Sprint is not in the dropdown
- second and third are two different ways I tried to search for the global field
