Splitting up JIRA instances

We are trying to split up our Jira instance into two. I have followed https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Splitting+a+JIRA+instance

Which seems to have worked. I can see the traffic from the new server to the old one. Which is slightly worrying. I have noticed that some of the comments contain links to the old instance.

Why would new Jira try to connect to the old server on the start-up?

Are there any additional precautions to take?

Hi Max,

If you have application link between the two instances, it's expected to see traffic between the servers.
