Span Rows and Columns in Description Field of a JIRA ticket?

I am having issues on trying to get a table to span columns in a JIRA table.

I have tried using a ^ just like twiki and have had no luck.

Currently, it's not possible to use colspan/rowspan on Jira. We have a feature request suggesting the implementation of this ability:
