Software Maturity charts

Software maturity is measured by the number of open cases over time.

So I need a chart as below (this shows a project that is just cranking up so very immature code base) that is configurable  so I can ask, by project, by a range of milestones, by area (our projects typically have 5 or more areas that tickets can be classified as) and a time range (typically the entire project).

How you do that in jira?

Hi @Randy Lee,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

As previously advised, you could try using the Cumulative Flow Diagram report available in the Reports section of your space or project. It allows you to select only open statuses and define a specific time range. It may be helpful for your needs; however, it appears to be limited to the current project and does not support breaking down the data by areas or epics.

If you require more advanced functionality, an alternative would be to look for a plugin (app) on the Atlassian Marketplace that provides this type of chart as a report or gadget.

If you want try a plugin, our Great Gadgets app offers some gadget that might fully address your need.

WIP Run Chart gadget (Recommended) - displays the amount of open issues along the time with their trend. It allows you to use a JQL, filter or board as data source, and can be highly configured

It allows splitting the data by a field (such as Area, in your case). In my example, I chose to split the data by Priority:

Cumulative Flow Diagram gadget - allows displaying the total number of open issues along the time.

If you have questions of need any help in configuring our gadgets, feel free to contact us at support@stonikbyte.com.

Hello @Randy Lee

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Jira does not have a reporting engine for creating completely customized reports.

Have you reviewed the built in Space level reports for Software Spaces?

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/track-and-analyze-your-teams-work-with-reports/

What you showed looks similar to the Cumulative Flow Diagram.

If you have an Enterprise level subscription then you have access to Atlassian analytics for reporting.

There are also numerous reporting apps available from third party vendors in the Atlassian Marketplace

Some of these might be coerced into being somewhat adequate.  I'll have to look more closely at them, filter out the buzzwords and see where they can be actually useful.

Burndown charts are plenty useful but not so much when they are tied to the concept of sprints.  I need those for milestones (what younger people call epics).

Let me look more closely at these and see if I can make any of them work.
