Slack for Jira Server

We have installed Slack for Jira Server

The documentation (https://confluence.atlassian.com/slack/using-jira-applications-with-slack-966662163.html) mentions Slash Commands - and the first instruction is 1. In your app settings, go to Slash Commands.

What app?

If this is in Slack, where? If you have to download the desktop app, it should say.

And, does this ONLY work for Jira Cloud?

Hi Paula,

Thanks for asking about the Slash Command setup for the Jira Server app. Reading through the documentation, I can see the confusion.

The instructions are referring to the setup in Slack for the Slack portion of the connector. In the immediate previous section of the documentation ("I use multiple Jira Server instances or my instances are behind a firewall. How do I connect them to Slack?"), it walks through setting up an app on the Slack side. You can access apps you've created in Slack at https://api.slack.com/apps and selecting them from the list.

If you've only got one Jira Server instance to connect to your Slack workspace, the good news is that you don't need to go through the manual configuration process for creating a new Slack app. Clicking the blue "Connect Slack team" button in Jira administration will walk you through configuring Jira with a pre-built Slack app.

Thanks - I'll try when I get the user to add me to the channels they want to connect, which will be later as they are 7-8 hours ahead of me!
