I am writing a slack automation that creates a new JIRA ticket based on inputs on a form in slack. As the user moves through the workflow, they are asked to input more data as it becomes available to them. I would like this data to go to custom fields on my JIRA ticket but I am only given the following fields to edit. Anyone know if this is a limitation at this time or if I am doing something incorrect? Please note that in the creation of a JIRA ticket from slack, I do have the ability to edit custom fields.
Hey @Betany Riley
Unfortunately this is a limitation, we don't have the option to modify the fields in issue creation via Slack.
Additionally, kindly note that Required fields will not be displayed while creating issues through Slack. I am afraid the issue creation may fail if the custom field are marked as Required. We have a feature request to improve this:
Slack is indeed able to retrieve custom fields when creating a work item via workflows. For the custom fields to show in slack, you will have to edit the "Create screen" for the issue type you're trying to create (via the project settings in Jira). Custom fields are not added to the "create work item" screen by default, but once you do that, Slack will be able to see the fields.
I hope this helps!
