Hi:
I recently mistakenly created a site using my personal identity, not my businesses identity. I then deleted the site but I'm not able to reuse the name in my business identity. Is there a way to accelerate the 60 day deletion process so it frees up the subdomain name for my other identity?
Hello @leisurehound
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
Only Atlassian can expedite that.
I am flagging your post here to raise it to the attention of Atlassian team members. They should respond within 2 business days.
Hi @leisurehound,
Totally understand the frustration - you'd expect deleting a site would free up the name, but unfortunately that's not how it works. Even after the 60-day retention period, the URL won't become available for reuse on a different account automatically.
Atlassian's docs actually call this out directly:
"If you are attempting to delete a cloud site in order to re-use the site URL on a different Cloud site… do not follow this guide. Instead, please contact Atlassian support with your request, and support will assist further."
— Reset and delete all data from your cloud site
The good news: Support can sort this out for you with a Site URL swap.
I created a ticket with the support team on your behalf: JST-1312878. They'll take it from there, please expect email communication hitting your inbox soon.
A couple more resources if you're curious about how URL changes work:
Hope that gets you sorted - you're closer than you think! 🙌
Best,
Anastasiia
