I'm documenting an issue on our Jira Board, and trying to avoid re-entering on my vendor's Jira Board. How can I share specific issues with the Vendor and have it track in both Boards? And yes, I'm rather new to Jira. Thanks
Hello @Tina G
Welcome to Atlassian Community.
When you mention the vendor board, I believe that the board is allocated in the same Jira site. Is that correct?
Basically, Jira boards are defined by a JQL filter. In Jira Classic projects, you can edit that filter to return issues from any projects you want, however, Jira Next-gen does not provide that functionality yet (See JSWCLOUD-17282).
If your vendor is using a board related to a Classic project, you can perform the following steps to edit the filter and display the issues you want:
1 - Navigate to the vendor board > Click on the three dots (...) at the top-right corner > Board settings
2 - You will land in the General tab, where you can click to Edit Filter Query
3 - Edit the filter and add the parameters to return the issues you want, adding the project of the issues or the issue keys in the query and saving your changes.
P.S: You must have the permissions to see the board filter to accomplish the steps above. If the filter is restricted, ask the board creator/responsible to do those steps.
In case your vendor is using a Next-gen board, you will not be able to find the board settings menu under "...". In that case, the only way to work around that issue would be to create a new classic board for your vendor, returning all the issues they need to see:
Let us know if you have any questions.
my internal jira board is: https://childfunddigital.atlassian.net/browse/CFDP
and my Vendor's jira board is: https://torjwtdigital.atlassian.net/browse/CF1178972
I'm trying to use an external share link.
Is that the best solution?
