I'm looking to setup a rule that says you can only add story points to an issue if some other fields are filled in and have an acceptable value. I'm looking to make this change only for a single project. We are using jira SaaS.

Hi @Wesley.Staples

In this case I would suggest that:

  • You remove the story points field from the edit screen
  • Create a new screen
  • Add the story points field in the above screen
  • Edit your workflow and pick a certain transition in which your users would like to fill in the story points
  • Click on that transition and add the above created screen there
  • Now you can add a condition on that transition, in order to make sure that the fields required before filling in the story points are filled
  • Add a validator to check that the above fields (not the story points) are filled in properly
  • Test your transition

Let me know if that works!
