Set Custom Field Value using Jira Software interface

On a service-desk type project in Jira, there is a custom field named X, a Read-Only text. Using Jira Project Management Software v7.4 .4, how one can set a value of X to a constant value?

Hello,

You can use the Update Issue Custom Field post function to set a constant value on the create transition.

You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.

Though this post function is available only for Cloud. For Server you would need an add-on like Power Scripts, ScriptRunner, Automation for Jira and so on.

Thanks, I used Automation for Jira, and was able to set Custom field value only when the field is not read-only.
