Server install and user id password does not work

Hi

I installed evaluation version of Jira server on my laptop for trial and setup login and ran the application it worked fine. Later on when I tried to login the page failed and looks like server was not up. With Jira server start, started the server now the login does not work and says invalid password. I think I have right password and user id, and tried forgot password but its not sending the email for reset either. Can you please help me how should I get around this. Should I uninstall the whole thing and reinstall? or is there any way I can login back, or how do I check if why its not sending email.

It's probably not sending email because you had not configured the mail server (most of us don't with trial runs).

If you've forgotton the password, there's not much we can do for you, but yes you could re-install, but it might be worth trying https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/retrieving-the-jira-administrator-192836.html first
