Selecting issues based on associated epic values

We assign epics to small teams.  Tasks in that epics are assigned to individuals on the team.  

We plan to use a custom field on the epic to store the team assignment.

I need a list of issues that are part of an epic assigned to a team, regardless of who the issue is assigned to. In other words - show me all the issues in all epics assigned to team X

Can I do that?

You can do this only if you have a plugin like JQL Tricks. Try the issuesWhereEpicIn function.
