Segmenting Jira Landscape

Chris Campos

Hello All,

I'm currently tasked with migrating and upgrading an existing JIRA instance. Due to the nature of our security standards, the new instance would need to be segmented out. There would need to be an application server, database server, web server, and any other server that's needed for this. My question is if it's possible to do this to this level?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Yes you can also split out the web server from whereever you are running Tomcat (which is what JIRA runs as)... or you can run both the web server and the appserver on the same box.

By default the product installs assuming you are running both on the same box.  But there are commented out settings in server.xml if you want to separate them.  There are instructions as part of the install documentation indicating the settings to change.

Is there a web server portion that can be segmented out or is it fully integrated into the application?
