Hello Atlassian Community,
I'm trying to add a horizontal rule (HR) or visual separator line to a field's default value in Jira Cloud. I am using this Atlassian Marketplace app for that.
Specifically, I want to include a horizontal line within the default text of a multi-line text field (e.g., Description) to visually separate sections of the content.
I've attempted using standard markdown syntax such as:
However, these did not render as horizontal lines in the Create Issue screen; instead, they appear as plain text. I understand that this app editor may have limitations regarding markdown rendering.
Is there a method or workaround to achieve a visual horizontal separator in a field's default value like this? I'm open to solutions involving custom fields, field configurations, or third-party apps if necessary.
Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Kind regards,
@Svetlin ,
I forgot to mention that we have other, free app that allows to create templates - Issue Templates Picker - Summary, Description and more .
The app has all editing features implemented already.
Cheers,
Mario
Hi @Svetlin ,
This is Big Fig Tree - the app's vendor.
We have just added Checklist (action item), Emoji, divider and other UI elements support in the Description field and custom rich text fields to Default Values for 'Create Issue' screen - Issue Templates app.
More features coming soon.
Cheers,
Mario

Hi @Svetlin
As you are using a marketplace vendor's addon for the default values, I recommend contacting that vendor's support team to ask how to do what you asked.
Kind regards,
Bill

Hi @Svetlin
Are you asking about adding the divider like on the screenshot?
You can achieve it with our app Issue Templates Agent for Jira. We also support other elements which you know from Atlassian editor.
