Is it possible to get a graphical overview of card dependencies with cards on different boards? I am a scrum master and in my project we have set up a Jira board. A lot of the cards on this board have dependencies to cards on other boards (same project but these other boards are boards that our DevOps teams use) - I have resources from DevOps that want to use their boards for their cards instead of using the project board. It is so hard to get a good overview of which cards are blocking each other and so on. Any suggestions?

Hi @lisbeth.olofsson

One way to solve this would be to create a new Kanban board for read-only usage where:

  • The filter spans all possible projects with dependencies
  • The board's columns include (map) all relevant status values.  Consider simplifying the columns if the source projects' boards use very different status values.
  • Ensure the individual items are linked when dependencies exist
  • Use quick filters and/or card colors to make linked item (dependencies) visible

When you need to see dependencies of work, just select the filters and only the dependent work will remain on the visibility board.

Best regards,

Bill
