Scrubbing HTML from issues imported into JIRA via CSV

David Keaveny

I am migrating issues from a legacy helpdesk product that is not directly supported by JIRA, using the CSV import function. In the export file, the Description field is HTML formatted, and those tags are getting imported as-is into JIRA. I know I can run the export data through some pre-processor prior to either strip out the HTML altogether or to convert it into Markdown, but is there anything I can do in JIRA, either at the point of import, or afterwards?

If you want to keep the HTML markup, try (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.jiraeditor.jeditor). Another option is to enable the HTML renderer (https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Configuring+Renderers).
