Script for dynamically populated Component field

I'm a newbie in JIRA Admin. My apology, if you find below question, a ridiculous one.

I've one list (single select) in a custom field (on first tab of the screen), where a user can select a module. In Component field ( 2nd tab of the screen), I want to populate list, based on what is selected in the custom field (on 1st tab of the screen). How to do it ? Can someone post a generic serverside java script, which can handle this (which I could attach in component field) ? Or should I write Groovy script in behaviour ?
