Screen does not pop-out on transition in Workflow

Scenario: I want my developers to state why they want to push an issue from "Plan of the Week" (POW) to "Ongoing" status (sends issue back into the backlog). I want to capture the reason they could not continue work on it that week as planned.
I want the screen to appear on this transition from POW to Ongoing.

Steps followed:

  • created custom field: "Reason for extension"
  • added it to the screen: "Push to Ongoing"
  • added the screen to a transition "Needs more time" of the workflow
  • published the workflow

Result: Nothing happens! There's no screen popping out/popping up. The statuses continue to transition with no hindrance.

I use JIRA cloud.

It would be really amazing if this could work or a closely similar solution is available. Please help!

Make sure the global context for that custom field does not exclude the project "applicable context"

Hello,

Similar problem, but i changed the workflow scheme too while i was changing the workflow transition itself. So i had to publish not only the workflow but also the workflow scheme. That fixed the issue. Look in (admin) project -> %project% -> Workflows

Hi @Pauline Monroy ,

Can you please check if you have added the screen to the transition from "Plan of the Week" (POW) to "Ongoing" status. Can you please provide the screenshot of the transition. Also please make sure that you have published the workflow.

Hi there, @[deleted]

As I had mentioned in the steps, yes: I added the screen to the transition. Yes, I published the workflow.

Here's the screenshot nvrthls.

Hi @Pauline Monroy ,

From the screenshot, it seems like you have associated the screen to the transition. Can you please verify if you are using the same workflow for all the issue types in the project (ie are you checking for the transition to show up for the issue type to which the above workflow is associated).

Hi @[deleted]

I believe I may have closely found out what might be wrong.

The workflow is being used by a parent issuetype (called Main Task) and a sub-task issuetype (To-do).

The screen appears for Main Task but doesnt appear for 'To-Do'.

I am not aware if sub-tasks do not render screens on transitions in workflows.

Would you know about that?

Thanks and regards,

Kirti

Hi @Pauline Monroy ,

There is no restriction on the sub-task level which will restrict from showing the transition screen. Please try to associate the workflow to a test project and check if you are able to reproduce the same issue

Hi All,

Im unfortunately experiencing the same issue... I've set the screen in the transition. And the worklfow is definetly linked to the board. I've tested by changing conditions and those work immediately. But the screen simply does not show.

what was the solution for you @Pauline Monroy ?
