Scheduled Sprints - Options

Philipp Hagen
July 25, 2022

If you have scheduled sprints, you can move any issues that are not finished by the end of the sprint to any scheduled sprint or to the backlog. If you don't have any scheduled sprints, any issues that are still open are automatically pushed to the backlog.

It is possible to create another option yourself? e.g. it should end up in an individual status e.g. pre-backlog

Hi Philipp, from Atlassian's documentation you only have these 3 options for incomplete issues.

  • Backlog, to move the issues to the backlog
  • Any future sprint, to move the issues to any future sprint that's already created
  • New sprint, to create a new sprint and then move the issues to the new sprint

That said, you could possibly create an automation rule to move incomplete issues into a specific status after you've chosen one of the 3 default options. You'll need a way for the automation rule to identify which issues should have their status changed. I could see this getting pretty complex to automate.
