Rule for Adding Description

Deleted user
February 18, 2022

Need a rule in automation to add the description (as well as any updates from latest recurrence) to tasks.

Ex:

Task 1

Description: A

Task 2

Description: AB

Does it have any relationship between task1 and task2?

If it has parent and child or any link between them then you can you the automation rule to take the description (A) from the parent and then update with it own  description (B) like AB.

See bellow - Here you can use additional field to update desc field with parent and its own description. Refer this  to prepare JSON

update subtask.png

You can also use scritped postfunctionif you have script runner plugin on task creation

Pls Accept the answer if it helps

Hi @[deleted]

I would check out the solution provided here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Software-questions/How-to-automatically-append-an-epic-s-description/qaq-p/1860553

It's a little hard to understand the use case for your situation but I would look into using Sub-tasks for your Tasks. It's easier from an automation perspective to establish an actionable relationship between tickets when it is parent-child.
