I can't create a Bug ticket so sharing this here. I tried having Rovo post a comment in a ticket and tagging the assignee, but it keeps showing their account ID instead. Below is the error message. Can we get this fixed?

Rovo AI
addCommentToJiraIssue tool does not render @mentions — outputs [~accountId:xxx] as plain text instead of ADF mention nodes

Hi @Loren Hughes

The Rovo AI tools currently emit mentions in the old wiki-markup style (`[~accountId:xxx]`) rather than constructing proper ADF (Atlassian Document Format) mention nodes.

Since Jira Cloud comments use ADF under the hood, those wiki-style mentions just render as plain text instead of clickable @-mentions.

The good news is the Atlassian team is already aware and actively working on it. There's an open issue tracking exactly this on their MCP server repo: https://github.com/atlassian/atlassian-mcp-server/issues/98 — "Support @mentions (ADF mention nodes) in addCommentToJiraIssue."

An Atlassian engineer confirmed they've shipped ADF support for Jira issues and comments, and mention support specifically is being rolled out across all the relevant tools. I hope the fix comes soon to Rovo Tools as well

Hi @Loren Hughes ,

On top of what Ajay said (from the MCP perspective), here's a feature request for Rovo agents to preserve rich formatting: ROVO-997: Rovo Agents to Preserve Rich Formatting from Atlassian Document Format (ADF)

From what I understood, you're looking from the MCP angle? 👀
Anyhow, it might be that once they ship one thing, it will automatically pull other related features and functionalities such as Rovo Chat, agents, etc.

Cheers,
Tobi
