We need a bit more details about the roadmap you are talking about, where you clicked save changes and what you are seeing.
Jira has several timeline views and it matters a lot if this is a plan (formerly known as an advanced roadmap) across multiple projects or a timeline in a single project. So any additional details you can share - screenshots, context about your configuration, ... - would help us help you!
