Hi -
Problem statement: i can not get the right EPIC -> issuetype (Story ) - subtask hierarchy to show up in my roadmap functionality.
Background:
I have three JIRA boards. Jira board #1: Driving project epics. Jira board #2 stories belonging in jira board #2 and #3. I want to map the stories in jira #2 and #3 to the epics in jira board #1.
Is there a way that I can get roadmap functionality to display this correctly from the jira scrum board for roadmap functionality.
Hello @Esther Lu
Welcome to the community.
Are your projects that contain these issues Company Managed projects or Team Managed projects? It will say in at the bottom of the navigation pane on the left.
If you are working with Team Managed projects, you cannot have Epics and their child Stories in separate projects. They must be in the same project.
Are you using Basic Roadmaps or Advanced Roadmaps?
Basic Roadmaps is available in the Jira Cloud Standard plan while Advanced Roadmaps is available in the Jira Cloud Premium plan.
Hi. Thanks for the speedy response. I am using Company Managed projects. How do I know if it's advanced roadmap or no? The roadmap I am using is the one provided by the SCRUM board.

If you can find out your Jira Cloud subscription plan type (Standard vs. Premium) that will tell you which Roadmaps version you have (Basic vs. Advanced).
We have the Standard plan so I can see only what is available for that.
From this document...
https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/features/roadmaps?tab=advanced
...which gives you a button to toggle between seeing the Basic vs. Advanced features, it looks like Advanced Roadmaps would give you some filtering options above your roadmap display, like Hierarchy, that are not available in the Basic Roadmaps version.
Also, from this documentation...
https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/guides/roadmaps/basic-roadmaps
... it looks like for Basic Roadmaps the source data for a roadmap comes from only one project - the one to which the roadmap is attached. If you need to compile data from multiple projects it looks like you would need Advanced Roadmaps.
I was going to suggest that you try creating a scrum board that combined the data from multiple projects and see if you could then enable the Roadmap feature for that board. Trying that in my own environment where I have only Basic Roadmaps, I found that you can't trick the system that way. If you have only Basic Roadmaps you cannot enable the Roadmap feature on a board where the filter is pulling in data from multiple projects.
