I observed a weird change in Jira server that Resolution has been updated automatically to Done status. when I edited the story points field of an issue.
Can you please provide your suggestions on how to control it from being updating Resolution field to done on Issue edit.
(This change I observed in Jira server)
FYI.. Resolution field is a editable one.
Thanks,
Bharathi.
My guess is that one of your inexperienced admins has put the resolution field on the edit screen.
You need to get rid of that as soon as possible. The resolution field should never be put on a create or edit screen, only transition screens.
Hi Nic,
Thank you so much for your help.
Is it good to remove resolution field from Create and Edit screen of the project?
Shall I be keep the Resolution field on View screen?
Please confirm with your suggestions.
Regards,
Bharathi.

Please re-read the last sentence in my answer.
The view screen doesn't actually matter - Jira will always display the resolution, whether you have it on the view screen or not.

Hi @Bharathi Dandi welcome to the Atlassian Community!
In your question, you mention Jira Server while the tags refer to Jira Software Cloud.
Can you please confirm the hosting type?
Editing the story points of an issue doesn't change its status, nor its resolution in normal circumstances. Are you aware of any automation rules for this project?
Are you the site admin?
