Report on transitions

I have a transition in a Jira workflow that's an option like Pass or Fail except this one is called 'Patch Not Needed'. How can I query to find out how many tickets are taking that transition?

One way to do that is to: 1. Create a custom field and add a value called "patch not needed" 2. Add a post function in patch not needed transition to update the custom field with patch not needed value. 3. Query the issues that has that value. Hope that helps.
