We've set up some custom fields in a JSM project so that we can expose them in Jira Issue Collector.
Unfortunately the Custom Fields' description is displayed in the Issue Collector dialog (preview). It seems there's no way to disable this.
So we removed the description text from the Custom Field definitions, obviously.
But the descriptions are still there in the Issue Collector preview!
We've removed the fields from the Issue Collector and added them back, but the descriptions are still there.
We've created a fresh Issue Collector and added those fields, but the descriptions are still there!
So, is there any way to remove Custom Fields' descriptions from the Issue Collector dialog?
Or, how is the deleted description still a thing? Where is it coming from and how can we purge it?
Hey @LO
Welcome to the community!
This behaviour is likely seen due to this bug report that was later identified as the expected behaviour.
Please go to the project where you've created the issue collector. Navigate to Project Settings > Issues > Fields.
Click on the edit option (small pencil icon on the far right) > Search for the field and edit its description.
You may now use this field in your collector and it will display the modified description.
Thanks,
Karan
Just noticed you mentioned its a JSM project. You'll find the field configuration under Project settings > Request management. Rest of the steps remain the same.

Hey @Karan Sachdev thanks for getting back to me.
That's it!
We had been changing the field at the global level and it made no difference to the project, which was holding on to an outdated value
