Release button greyed out if all of the issues are "resolved" but not all are "Done"

Rony Kahana December 19, 2023

Hi!

Due to our Workflow, issues get a "resolution" when they are moved to "In Review".

"In Review" status is under the status category of "In Progress" (aka - blue).

When I try and release a version that all of its issues are "resolved" but some are in "In Review" I cannot. I did find a workaround: adding an issue that's not resolved.

Repro steps:

  1. Create "Release 1" as a Fix Version
  2. Add to it:
    1. Resolved issues that are in Done category status (aka the green status category)
    2. Resolved issues that are in the "In Progress" category status (aka the blue category. In this case my issues were in "In Review" with Resolution "Done".)
  3. Go to Project > your project > Releases > Release 1
  4. Click the "Unreleased" dropdown and choose "Release"

Expected result:

The "Release" dialogue window allows clicking the "Release" button.

When clicking on the hyper link to how many issues will be released, it takes you to Search results showing issues in this version.

Actual result:

The "Release" button in the dialogue window is greyed out.

When clicking on the "x issues will be released" hyperlink it takes you to a search window with results for how many issues are "Unresolved" (Resolution is EMPTY)

Workaround:

Adding an issue that's NOT resolved to fix version ("Release 1") solves it. The Release button is clickable and the version can be released.

My question: I was wondering if there's something that I'm doing wrong in how I setup our Workflows or if there's a configuration I'm missing that's supposed to allow me to release even if I don't have an unresolved issue to the fix version?

Hi @Rony Kahana , you need to update the workflow and not set resolution for In Review. Resolution should be reserved for issues in a Done statuscategory status.

@Jack Brickey thank you! I was wondering if that was a faux pas! I'll do that.
