×We are currently using Jira Data Center version 9.4.8 and we're in the process of migrating to the Cloud. I'm currently reviewing the "Jira Release Notes" to see what new functionality we'll be getting when we move from Data Center to the Cloud and when I get to version 9.13 it says this -- "Starting from 9.13.x, new releases of Jira will be available only to Data Center customers." I'm assuming that means that from v9.13 & on, the release notes wouldn't apply to Cloud. Is there anywhere that shows the Cloud release notes? I can't seem to find them.
Hi Linda, You're correct, There isn't a 'Release Notes' for the Cloud version of Jira, as feature/functionality is being rolled out more dynamically than a static version of Jira like Data Center. The comment "Starting from 9.13.x, new releases of Jira will be available only to Data Center customers." is mainly for the customers using Jira on their own Servers, as Atlassian has stopped supporting the 'Server' product and is only going forward with maintaining as a Data Center product going forward with 9.13.x.
As they're two different products, the release notes for Data Center do not apply to the Cloud version.
I use this Cloud Platform Document kinda like the release notes for each product.
Hope That Helps.
Hi Linda -
The note saying "Starting from 9.13.x, new releases of Jira will be available only to Data Center customers" is because support for Jira *Server* ended with v9.12. Regarding Jira Cloud, it doesn't really have any relation to Data Center at this point - they have diverged heavily in UI and functionality. When you move to Cloud, users' experiences will be quite different in a variety of ways, but still familiar enough to function.
The good news is that you are about to experience many more exciting features on a faster development timeline, as Jira Cloud is the flagship! Here are some ways to keep up with the new features:
Cloud doesn't have numbered versions, but Org Admins can choose release tracks to delay or accept new features. Org admins can also view product update notes in-app.
Hope this helps!
