I'm upgrading Jira 7.6.1 to Jira 8.0.0. Installed Jira 8.0.0 on a new server and imported the database dump (MySQL 5.7) and copied the attachements. When executing the are-index it takes about 100 minutes. On 7.6.1 this was about 40 minutes. The server CPU and RAM is the same and also the parameters in Jira are the same if not higher, because of the new default values.
Any ideas what is missing or what has to be changed to optimize the re-index?
Thanks a lot,
Claudio
Hi,
I have totally different experience (just with PostgreSQL) with upgrading to Jira 8 and reindexing. In our case it decrease time for reindex for 80% in compare of with Jira 7. Did you perform background or full reindex?
Can you do upgrade/migration again but without using DB dump and use standard XML backup? Do you have right configuration for MySQL (https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/connecting-jira-applications-to-mysql-5-7-966063305.html)?
What is your JVM memory configuration? How many CPU? HDD or SSD? And if you have another things what you think are important.
Just if you are interested I tested this few weeks ago and here you can see for results.
