HI Team,
We are currently in process of migrating the jira instance from on-prem prod to azure cloud.
I just want to understand how the license will work in cloud. Do we just need to copy the same license key in azure cloud instance and stop the jira instance working in on prem.
Or is there any predifend step that needs to be carried out during prod cut over.
Please help with the suggestion.
You will need to use your production key in the cloud production issue. Once you complete the cut over you can update your old on prem instance to a developers license until you shut it down.

Ok so what i got is that if i copy the prod key into the cloud prod instance. so will both instance will be up ? or unless i update the developr key into the on-prem cloud instance my cloud instance will not be up .
as same key would be used in two different instance

You should be able to use the production key on both instances for a short period. I usually update the legacy system to developer key then place the production key in the new production system to prevent any issues. This will require you to update plugins with development keys as well.
