Ranking based on priority?

Is it possible to initially set the rank based on priority on a new board?

My problem is that in order to create a sprint I need to order by rank, but when I do, and even if the secondary sort is set to priority, the ordering seems shuffled.

I was able to solve this by creating filters for each priority level, then dragging them around into the sprint and back to the backlog.
