What happened to the Quick Search box (where you could simply type in an Issue ID) on the new interface? Its not on the base page or the Search pop-out.
Are users now required to build a filter criteria/create a list containing the Issue ID in order to get to the issue?
Hi Ed,
Are you having trouble finding issues in the new interface when you search for them in the Basic Search? When I search I am able to find everything related to the BUG-2 Issue I searched for:
If you go back to the normal view are you able to find the issue in the quick search? Let me know and we'll go from there.
Cheers,
Branden
No, I am not having "trouble" finding issues with the new interface, it just takes many steps when you want to simply jump to an issue. The problem is, as your sample illustrates, the new interface forces you to create and/or select a filter to get to an issue. The prior interface had a simple SEARCH box (see below - image is from the current Quick Search help documentation). Using the SEARCH box, you could type in the issue #, it would go directly to the issue - very fast, very efficient navigation. I take it this will no longer be a feature in JIRA?

Hi Ed,
I do see one extra step involved in Searching for an issue:
Step 1: Click the magnifying glass
Step 2: Type in the issue key and press return and it goes directly to the issue
I did not create a filter as you stated, I simply typed in the issue key and those options popped up and I clicked on the issue but you don't have to. You can press return to get to the issue instead of clicking. One benefit of this view over the other that I see is the other options you get including Boards, etc. however I can see how that can also be inefficient if you're just looking to get directly to the issue and nothing else
In the Server version with the quick search as you have pictured you still need to put in an issue key so you would save one click by not having to click the magnifying glass. At this point that is how the new UI functions but there is a way to provide feedback.
When you click on your avatar you have an option to provide feedback:
It appears you know how to get to the old view so in the meantime you can use that if it suits your needs until you receive further feedback from submitting feedback regarding any changes to the Search field.

Branden

agree. magnifying glass is your friend in the new UI. Not perfect but it generally gets me to where I need to be.

Ahh....got it, I didn't realize "Search..." was an input control, just thought it was a label - never bothered to click on it. Didn't pick that up on your sample either.
Thanks, Ed

For me when I type it shows unrelated topics. Eg when i search THEA-412 i start typing:
4
I get fair number of issues like 213, 337... maybe one form 400+ but not the one I'm looking for, its weird one would think to get those number but who cares at this stage...
type further and now have 41
my search list is shortlisted to few: 390, 329 and 275...
after typing last digit I have 412 and get:
"No matching search results, try again using more general search terms"
oO that is stupid...
especially that I know this issue exists and I can press enter to navigate there... its just search playing with you, not showing you the results...
Old interface was way better... I hate new design, whoever made it should find better job elsewhere, there are only issues, complications and no actual value with new layout. (I use jira from 2009 so its not a first change I have seen)
