Querying for cross-team dependencies.

Tom Owens October 10, 2022

A comment on an article provides a ScriptRunner query for highlighting cross-team dependencies. However, it relies on listing out each team. It's also a little over a year old at this point.

I have access to Jira Software Cloud Premium and Adaptavist ScriptRunner for Jira Cloud. Is there a better, more robust way to query for open issues that have specific issue links but where the teams (identified in a custom field) are different? Considering I have 6 teams, I'd rather not enumerate all of the teams - that seems like a query maintenance headache.

I'm curious what other people are doing to find and visualize issues and dependencies. Maybe I'm overlooking other options as well.

Hi @Tom Owens,

Since you've discovered the capabilities of Scriptrunner enhanced querying capabilities already, let me focus on alternatives here ...

If you are on a premium plan, you should be able to visualise the dependencies between issues via the dependencies report. It would work at its best if all the data you need are in a consolidated plan and you are using advanced roadmaps' teams instead of a standard custom field.

Since Jira has powerful capabilities when it comes to creating links but has vast room for improvement when it comes to displaying / leveraging those, the Atlassian Marketplace  does offer a considerable amount of apps that try to address the issue.

Hope this helps!
