Can someone please help me with the query to search for all the improvements which were originally logged as defect. So, for example when the defect is logged, developer changed the issue type to improvement and considered that defect as improvement because of some xyz reason.

Hi @itdsqa tesoct26 and welcome to the community.  Unfortunately, there is no way to query for changes to issue type without a 3rd party app.

One route you can take without a 3rd party app is to create a custom field like "initialIssueType" and set up automation to populate that field when the issue is created.  Then you can execute a query like this:

"initialIssueType" = Defect and issueType = Improvement

Note - This workaround would not solve your immediate need as it would only work on issues that have been created once the automation rule is active.
