Query Routing in AWS Aurora for Jira Data Center

We have a Jira Data Center instance with significant traffic hosted on AWS. We are planning to migrate Jira Data Center to use AWS Aurora PostgreSQL instead of AWS RDS PostgreSQL.

Our question is: Can Jira intelligently handle the routing of database queries to the writer and reader nodes within the cluster, directing read-only calls to the reader node?

  1. I am assuming you mean direct SQL queries in PostgresSQL, not anything in Jira itself, since Jira doesn't do "database queries."
  2. Can Jira redirect a direct database query? No. You're not accessing Jira and therefore Jira isn't doing anything.
  3. There are likely settings on the AWS side you can employ to direct traffic from clients.
The document I shared above clearly shows the ability to choose between read and write on cluster nodes. Let me know what you think.
