I clicked on the message "The column is getting full.  Want an easier way to manage it?"  Tell me more option removed my backlog.  How do I get the old version of my Kanban board back?

Hello @Lisa Roquemore

Welcome to the Atlassian community!

Are you working in Jira Cloud or Jira Server/Data Center? If you URL looks like this, it is Jira Cloud:

https://<your company>.atlassian.net

If you are working in Jira Cloud are you working with a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project?

For Jira Server/Data Center, and for Jira Cloud Company Managed projects, you enable the Backlog screen for the Kanban board from Board Settings (or "Board Configurations") > Columns. The "backlog" is then displayed on the Backlog page rather than in your board. If you want to have the issues in your board instead, drag the status value out of the Backlog area and into a column. It will look something like this:

That did not work.  I was able to manually pull the column back into my board.  However, the column is empty.  I would rather just go back to the view I had before to ensure my cards do not disappear.

Hello @Lisa Roquemore

Unfortunately there are not "undo" buttons for operations like this so you can't "just go back" to what it was before. You have to move forward to reconfigure it the way it was before.

I am not clear how you could've pulled a status from the Kanban Backlog area to a board column (as in the example in my image) and have that column in the board be empty if there were actually issues in your board in that status. Can you show us the Columns page with that mapping? And show us the Board with the column being empty? And show us an issue that you think should be in that column but is not?

Do you have any quick filters activated?

Could the issues be getting excluded by the filter query or subfilter for your board?
