Hello,
We are currently using a JIRA Core v6.4.13 instance installed in our server (Linux) and we want to upgraded to the latest version (v7.1.11).
To make a testing instance, I followed these steps:
- I installed a fresh JIRA Core v6.4.13 instance and restored data from the original instance.
- Migrated to JIRA Core v7.0.0, and then to JIRA Core v7.11.1 using the binary installers.
We had a few issues in the way and we managed to fix them by checking similar ones in this community.
The latest issue is when trying to create a new Project:
- First at all, the project types are now different: We are given choice only to create Business projects whereas in v6.4.13 we had Software projects (please check screenshots)
- When we try to create a new project, we get an error (please check screenshots) and the following line on the logs:
[c.a.jira.permission.DefaultPermissionSchemeManager] No permission scheme is associated with project 'Test Project'
The project is created but there is no permission scheme assigned to it, so it cannot be viewed to anyone.
Is it possible to re-enable Software projects ?
Thank you
Best regards.
Hi @Ahmed Ben Abid,
from Jira version 7, the Agile add-on has disappeared and is replaced by Jira Software (it's basically Jira Core + Agile add-on bundled together).
I'm guessing you had the Agile plugin before, so in order to get back all your features you need to deploy Jira Software and not Jira Core.
This document explains the upgrade path and could be useful to you.
Let me know if this helps,

Hello @Alexis Robert
Thank you for your answer.
I installed the same add-ons we have on v6.4.13, I don't think we used Agile plug-in before. I will try JIRA Software
These are the add-ons:
Thank you,

from the screenshot in your first post, I noticed you have "Agile Scrum" as a project type, so you definitely have the Agile plugin in Jira 6.4 :)
You should check the add-ons page and select "All add-ons" instead of "User-installed", I'm pretty sure you will find it.

Hello again,
Thank you for noticing.
I displayed all installed add-ons and I found JIRA Agile Marketing Plugin in System add-ons which help with JIRA Agile installation.
In the other hand, I found another add-on named JIRA for Software Plugin which isn't present in JIRA Core 7.11.1, maybe this is the one :)
Thank you
Best regards

Hi,
indeed, it does confirm that you need to install Jira Software instead of Jira Core to get all those features back.
You will need to start again the upgrade on your testing instance from scratch, just to be sure nothing is lost during the process.
