Project appears private

Hi,

I am set up as an administrator, but whenever I try to view a particular project in Jira, it defaults to the one of the Kanban boards within the project. I am unable to view the Backlog view of the overall project.

There is no option in the left column for Backlog; and when I try to view All Boards, the project I want to see appears as "private".

Is this a configuration issue? Has anyone else come across this and can suggest a solution?
