Hi,

I am experiencing recurring issues when trying to save images in comments while using Jira. This problem started about a week ago, and I initially assumed it would be resolved quickly, but the issue still persists.

When pasting an image into a comment, I can already anticipate that it will fail to save whenever the image preview displays a white horizontal bar at the bottom.

The problem does not appear to be related to the image size or file name. If I delete the image, save the comment, reload the page (including clearing the cache), and then paste the exact same image again without any modifications, it saves successfully.

This inconsistent behavior suggests a problem with the editor or the image handling process rather than with the image itself.

I am also aware that I am not the only user experiencing this issue, as I have seen other reports describing the same problem. However, no satisfactory answer or clear escalation has been provided so far.

Since this issue directly affects our ability to document work and communicate through Jira comments, it is becoming a blocking problem. Could this please be properly investigated and escalated so that a definitive solution can be provided?

Hi @Marlon Ribeiro Paupitz

Images added within comments are stored as attachments in the context of the Jira work item. Could you confirm if there have been any recent changes to the project permission scheme that might be restricting users from adding attachments?

Additionally, it would be worth checking with your site administrator to see if your instance has reached the storage limit. Since you mentioned you are on the Standard plan, the total storage available is 250 GB, and reaching this limit could also prevent new attachments from being uploaded.

Hi, thank you for the follow-up.

However, if the issue were related to those cases, it would be impossible to save the image at all. As I previously mentioned, the same image can be saved successfully after reloading the page and clearing the cache.

Upon further observation, the bug consistently occurs when attempting to attach an image to a page that has been inactive for several minutes. This suggests a session timeout.

My apologies, I missed the part where you mentioned that you are able to add attachments after refreshing the page. Since the issue appears to be specific to your site, it would be best to reach out to your site administrator and ask them to raise a support ticket with Atlassian for further investigation.

As members of the community, we can certainly try to help, but identifying the exact root cause of this issue is difficult without Atlassian’s internal diagnostics.
