Post function "Set issue status to the linked status of the destination workflow step"?

I don't understand what this post function does:  "Set issue status to the linked status of the destination workflow step" and could not find any documentation on it.

I added to my initialization / create post function for a subtask and now I cannot delete it.    It thinks its a system function.

This is simply changing the status to that which is driven by the transition. You cannot remove this BTW - how-to-remove-optional-post-functions-from-the-initial-transition-in-a-workflow
