Plans filter not surfacing completed and done items for particular team

We discovered an issue with the Plans for one teams initiatives, that belonged to an ongoing program these were from the Jira software space shown as done and when viewing the parent you could see the status and from Plan itself you could see the green progress however regardless of the view or filter set and having cleared all and set between both timeline and list would not show the status items. With the exception of 1 ticket that displayed. The other teams could view their own?

In the end we had to go and manually reset the status for each ticket which was over hundred items and such it began working again but we were not able to understand the root cause.

Hi @Jonathon Choy ,

Since you are using Jira Cloud Premium and have Product Admin rights, this issue is most likely caused by the plan's built-in exclusion rules. Here is how to fix it:

  • Adjust the 30-day Exclusion Rule (Most Common)
By default, Plans remove issues that have been "Done" for more than 30 days.

    • Go to your Plan → More actions (•••) next to the plan name → Plan settings.

    • Select Work in your planRemoved work items tab.

    • Click View rules and increase the days in Remove work marked DONE more than (e.g., to 365). Click Save.

  • Verify the Resolution Field
Plans require a Resolution value to properly treat an issue as completed.

    • Check a missing issue: If the status is "Done" but the Resolution is Unresolved, it may be filtered out.

    • Fix: Ensure your workflow sets a Resolution via a Post-function during the transition to Done.

  • Search for the Missing Key
If the issue still doesn't appear, type the full issue key (e.g., PROJ-123) into the search box on the Removed work items page. Jira will tell you exactly why it was excluded (e.g., "Excluded by rule" or "Manually removed").
